Bid to smuggle cocaine at JIAP foiled

Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive on Friday claimed to have foiled another smuggling bid of cocaine at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP). According to details, this action was also taken on a tip-off that some unscrupulous elements were continuously attempting to smuggle cocaine in Karachi via air route, due to its huge demand. The MCC, Preventive staff has already mounted stiff vigilance in order to foil the said bids.
Now, a Kenyan passenger arrived at JIAP from Dubai via flight EK-606 was intercepted by the staff. On his refusal to have any contraband item in his possession, the staff during physical examination recovered 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, which was concealed in hidden cavities of his luggage. Consequent upon recovery, he was taken into custody and case has been registered. Further investigation was under way.
Needless to mention, this was third seizure of cocaine during last 10 days. On December 13, the MCC, Preventive has confiscated four kilogram of cocaine from African lady, which was concealed in tin packed food stuff. Last week, three kilograms were also detected from a passenger at Karachi Airport.
