PPL Blind Cricket Trophy begins

The second edition of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Blind Cricket Trophy got under way here at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Kamran Khan Bangash, Minister for Science and Technology Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Championship by playing a short wherein Managing Director PPL Saeed Ullah Shah, Dr. Tanveer Additional Secretary Federal Ministry of Petroleum, Syed Sultan Shah Chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council, officials, players and spectators were also present.
Syed Sultan Shah Chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council requested the government to develop a customize screen reader (text to speech) software in Urdu language for the visually impaired persons and government must implement the 2 percent job placement quota for disabled persons.
He also thanked the Pakistan Petroleum League for their continuous support for the development of Cricket of the Blind in Pakistan. Minister for Science and Technology assured that government will consider these requests earnestly.
In the first match Peshawar defeated Abbottabad. Match started late due to foggy weather and was reduced to 18 overs. Peshawar batting first set 270 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Mohsin Khan played outstanding innings of 98 runs off 47 balls. Sohaib took 3 wickets by giving away 45 runs.
Abbottabad chasing the huge total were bowled out on 175 runs in 17.5 overs. Mohsin Khan was declared the Man of the Match. Six teams are taking part in the Championship comprising Attock, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Sargodha, Lahore and host Peshawar. The final of the Championship will be played on December 1, 2018.
