The family of Shaheed SP Tahir Dawar and Waziristan Qaumi Jirga has rejected the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for investigation into kidnapping and murder of the police official on Saturday. On Friday, the Islamabad Chief Commissioner constituted a JIT, and assigned SP Police Investigation, Islamabad as the team's convener. Talking to newsmen here, Hameeduddin Dawar, brother of Tahir Dawar, said that the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Mehsud had assured Waziristan Qaumi Jirga that the police official was with the country's agencies and they were in contact with them. He said that they did not trust the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
"My brother went missing from a sensitive city, and his body was found in Afghanistan," he said, adding that the case does not involve "a single country but two countries. And when two countries are connected then the decision should also be made at an international level," he added. "Due to the nature of this case, an international JIT should be formed to [investigate this]."
He demanded that international organizations should investigate the brutal murder of Tahir Dawar. He said that he lost his brother due to negligence of IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and IG Islamabad. Had the police and other agencies taken timely action, the situation would have been totally different, he said.
The Jirga and family announced that they would move the court against IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Meanwhile, a spokesman for the IG rejected the claim of the Dawar family and said that the IG had never told them that Tahir Dawar was in the custody of intelligence agencies. He said that the IG had assured them that he would try to contact the agencies if Tahir Dawar was with the agencies.
