In order to expedite disposal of cases in litigation, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has nominated and re-designated some of its officers as special public prosecutors to conduct all prosecution of offences against corporate sector.
In this regard, the SECP has issued an SRO 1400 (I)/2018 here on Friday. According to the notification, special public prosecutors may institute or defend cases, appeals, petitions, applications and all other matters before any court/tribunal including the High Courts and Supreme Court of Pakistan in matters arising out of XLVII of 1997 or any administrated legislation provided thereto, the SECP added.
Muhammad Umar Aziz Gondal, SECP Deputy Director, Islamabad has been re-designated as Special Public Prosecutor for Islamabad Capital Territory (High Courts, Courts of Sessions & Special Courts/Tribunal at ICT).
Touseef Ahmed, Assistant Director (Law), Islamabad, has been re-designated as Special Public Prosecutor for High Courts and Courts of Sessions of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and KP.
Saba Iqtidar, Management Executive, Islamabad, has been re-designated as Special Public Prosecutor for Courts of Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi (Courts of Sessions & Special Courts/Tribunal at ICT).
Some of the SECP officers enlisted in SRO 1006 (I)/2018 dated August 10, 2018 have been removed from the list of approved special public prosecutors for the purpose of Section 38 of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997, the SECP added.
