The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 256.19 points, or 1.12 percent, to 23,134.64, the S&P 500 gained 20.45 points, or 0.83 percent, to 2,488.15 and the Nasdaq Composite added 25.14 points, or 0.38 percent, to 6,579.49.
