Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Four ships, Maersk Detroit, APL Savannah, Chemroad Quest and African Griffon carrying containers, Chemicals and Coal were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Port Qasim Electric Power Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile two more ships, Chemroad Haya and Alnic MC carrying Canola Seeds and Chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

A total of eleven ships were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Rice, Cement, Coal, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemicals, LNG, Palm oil and Diesel oil respectively. Out of eleven, two ships, Gas carrier Al-Kharaitiyat and Bulk cargo carrier Draft Doger are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.

A record cargo handling was achieved at the Port on Tuesday where a cargo volume of 276,290 tonnes, comprising 253,815 tonnes imports cargo and 22,475 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 5,276 Containers (TEUs), (4,146 TEUs imports and 1,130 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port.

Four ships, MOL Grandeur, Gao Yu-2, America Graela and Alnic MC scheduled to load/offload Containers, Condensate, Bitumen and Coal are expected to take berths at QICT, FOTCO, MW-1 and PIBT respectively on Wednesday, While two ships, Hansa Africa and Tucapet with Containers are due to arrive at PQ on Thursday.
