NA to make record number of laws: Speaker

25 Dec, 2018

Legislation was the first priority of the government and and no one from the opposition would oppose the laws tabled in the parliament for the betterment of people, he said while talking to a news channel.

He said the opposition parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, had also assured him that they wanted the incumbent regime to complete its constitutional tenure.

To a question, the speaker said he would run the House impartially as per rules and regulations.

He, however, added that all members of the parliament would have to realize their responsibility and avoid politicking as far as parliamentary affairs were concerned.

He said he was taking the prime minister on board on issues such as issuance of production orders of the opposition leader Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif or PML-N member Khawaja Saad Rafique. Similarly, he would deal the matter of detained PML-N MNA Afzal Khokher as per rules, he added.

The speaker said Prime Minister Imran Khan would be soon attending the National Assembly sessions regularly as  he had talked to him in that regard.
