Christian community celebrates Christmas

The main Christmas ceremony was held at Catholic Church, railway road. Bishop Joseph Arshad, Father Bashir Francis, Father Boni and Father Pervez Gulzar led the prayer.

The second main Christmas ceremony was held at Presbyterian Church near Gumty Chowk, Rail Bazzar. Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saifullah Dogar, Father Emrek Joseph and other Christian leaders were present.

A Christmas cake was also cut on the occasion.

In Warispura, Gujjar Basti and Christian localities houses, bazaars and streets were tastefully decorated with colorful lights and balloons.

Prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of the country.

The Christian men, women, and children thronged the city parks to celebrate their religious festival. The children were seen very happy at swings in Bagh-e-Jinnah, Kalim Shaheed Park, Shahbaz Sharif Park, D-ground.

The district police made foolproof security arrangements across the district on the occasion of Christmas.

More than 2,000 police officials were deployed for the security of 327 churches and Christmas celebrations in the district.

Special pickets were also set up at all entry and exit points of the district to keep eye on suspect persons.

As many as 30 teams of Dolphin Force and 10 teams of Elite Force also ensured patrolling near churches, Christian localities and other sensitive places.

Meanwhile, CPO Ashfaq Ahmed visited various churches including Catholic, Presbyterian and others in the city and checked security.
