CTP removes pressure horns from 16500 vehicles

CTP spokesman told APP on Wednesday that use of pressure horns is prohibited due to acute noise pollution and risks to human health. The authorities imposed a total fine of Rs. 8 million on drivers of these vehicles, which had pressure horns.

Under Traffic Violation Code No.13, traffic police can impose a fine of Rs. 200/- over the use of pressure horn on motorcycle, Rs. 500/- on cars and other light transport vehicles, whereas a fine of Rs. 750/- could be imposed on drivers of trucks, buses, trailers and other heavy transport vehicles, it was learnt.
