PTI stages protest against acute water shortage in Karachi

16 Dec, 2018

The protest, organised by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), was led by Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdose Shamim Naqvi, PTI's parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh, and the party's Members of National Assembly and Members of Provincial Assembly and a large number of workers.

Addressing the participants, opposition leader Firdose Naqvi said the Sindh government has failed in providing potable water to the people of Karachi, while the sewerage system is also in a dilapidated condition.

In his speech, PTI's parliamentary leader Haleem Adil Sheikh said the Pakistan People Party has been governing the Sindh province for the past 10 years, but no development activities have been undertaken and government funds are lost to corruption.

He said the Sindh province, including Karachi, is in an abject condition.

Haleem Adil Sheikh also said the provincial government is not doing anything for the people of drought-hit Thar.

He warned that the next protest would be staged outside the Chief Minister House. Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully.
