Fourth anniversary of APS attack observed

The terrorists stormed the Army Public School on December 16, 2014 and martyred around 150 people including more than 130 young students.

The incident shacked the country and the news spread in the entire world like a wild fire, leaving the whole nation sadden and in a grief and sorrow.

A ceremony in to pay tribute to the martyrs and Ghazis of Army Public School (APS) Warsak road Peshawar was held here which was attended by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, parents of martyred students and others.

The ceremony started with a special prayer for martyrs, followed by the national anthem.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour.

Governor KP Shah Farman laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ monument and offered Fateha for the departed souls.

Later, he joined the families of Shuhada, large gathering of locals, school children and staff for Quran Khawani within school premises.

During Interaction with the families of martyrs, the Governor said that entire nation is standing shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families.

He said that APS tragedy united the nation against terrorism.

Meanwhile, another function was held to pay homage to the martyrs of APS at APS (Archive) Library Peshawar beside a ‘Taleemi dharna’ was staged in front of Peshawar Press Club.

People from different walk of live and civil society members attended by paying rich tribute to martyrs and expressed their sympathies with the bereaved families of APS martyrs.

Earlier, a candlelight vigil was held last night on the eve of fourth anniversary at the Shuhada APS memorial put up on the premises of APS (Archive) Library.

There were banners and pictures displayed by the parents and relatives of the martyrs students and lit candles on this occasion.
