IHC orders removal of Bukhari's name from ECL

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered to remove the name of Zulfi Bukhari from the Exit Control List (ECL).

An IHC bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani announced the judgment, which was earlier reserved, in a petition filed by Bukhari challenging inclusion of his name in the ECL.

The court also ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to continue its inquiry against Bukhari as per the law.

It further stated that NAB had itself given permission to Bukhari to go abroad once and that there was nothing on the record to show that Bukhari was not cooperating with the Bureau.

It may be mentioned that the Interior Ministry had placed Bukhari's name on the ECL in August on the request of National Accountability Bureau.
