In line with its tagline Darr ke aage jeet hai beverage giant Mountain Dew continued its exploration of new avenues in its hunt for E-sports junkies across Pakistan; bringing us one of the largest E-Sporting events of the year – the Dew Gamers Arena 2018.

On Sunday, the Lahore Expo Centre was abuzz with gamers and gaming enthusiasts from all over the country for the grand finale of the Dew Games championship.

After a two-month journey that commenced in October earlier this year, and featured 700 teams, only the fittest were left standing to claim the Crown. Gamers united for Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) with only the top teams qualifying for the finals. The finals saw the teams fight, with all their might, for the coveted championship trophy and the Rs. 1 Million grand prize.

In the end, it was a thrilling display of sportsmanship that saw Portal E-sports crowned tournament champions, beating out rivals Markhoor E-sports and Prometheus Gaming.

Both teams were handed a Rs. 1 million rupee cash prize along with trophies by Pepsi Co’s Marketing Director Salman Butt. “The response of the audience has been phenomenal, a lot of people have come in Lahore to support Esports, this is phenomenal and it goes to show that this can go on for a number of years… and why not compete internationally also.”

“So if your passion is Esports, Mountain Dew stands with you, so we would be doing this every year, providing gamers the platform,” he added.

And it appears gamers weren’t the only ones in the house. The celebrated affair was also attended by a number of celebrities for our local show-biz industry including: Feroz Khan, Iqra Aziz, Uzair Jaswal, Mahenur Haider, Mikaal Zulfiqar, and Cybil Chaudhry among others.

Rounding off the seminal event was a show-stopping performance by internationally acclaimed Pakistani pop rock band Strings.
