State Bank to issue Rs50 coin to commemorate anti-corruption day

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has authorized State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to issue Rs 50 commemorative coin of International Anti-Corruption Day.

These coins will be issued through the exchange counters of all the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation from December 10, 2018, says a statement of SBP on Friday.

"Corruption is a complex social, political and economic phenomenon that affects all countries. Corruption undermines democratic institutions, slows economic development and contributes to political instability," the statement said adding on October 31, 2003, the General Assembly adopted the United Nation Convention against corruption and the Assembly also designated December 9, as International Anti-Corruption Day to raise public awareness for Anti-Corruption.

The metal composition of the coin comprises of cupro-Nickel, copper 75 percent and nickel 25 percent%, whereas its dimension would be 30.0 mm and weight would be 13.5 grams.
