Vote mandatory for strengthening democracy

Addressing a ceremony on the theme of "Mera Vote - Meri Pehchan" organized in connection with the National Voters Day, he said that increasing awareness regarding the importance of vote among middle class of the country was a good omen.

Imran Ismail appreciated the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for its step to allow the overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes in polls. He also praised the role of ECP in conduct of transparent 2018, general elections. He said that the monitoring system needed to be further strengthened.

Addressing on the occasion Provincial Election Commissioner Yousaf Khattak said that the voter’s day was of utmost importance. He said that presence of the Governor in the ceremony highlighted the importance of the vote.

He said that observance of the voter’s day by ECP aimed at guiding the masses. Yousaf Khattak said that transparency of the polls was the responsibility of ECP.

Further highlighting the importance of the vote the Provincial Election Commissioner said that vote casting was a national duty. Member Election Commission Sindh Abdul Ghaffar Soomro said that Pakistan was a democratic country.

He said that registration and deregistration of vote was earlier being done with the help of NADRA now the ECP does itself. Soomro said that ECP was making all-out efforts for improvement of electronic result and result transmission system.
