The Supreme Court (SC) directed on Wednesday the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to respond to United Kingdom Home Office's questionnaire regarding former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar's return.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar remarked that Dar has now run out of excuses to delay his return. The CJP was informed by the additional attorney general that United Kingdom’s Home Department had sent questions regarding Dar’s return. The additional attorney general added that the questions had been forwarded to NAB.

The CJP directed NAB to respond to the questionnaire and submit its answers to UK's Home Department . The court has given a month's time to the bureau to submit a report regarding this matter, local media reported. The court has adjourned the case proceedings for a month.

Last year, an accountability court had declared Dar an absconder due to his continuous failure to appear before it. He is in London undergoing medical treatment. The former finance minister has been indicted by the accountability court regarding corruption trial against him.

A case has been ongoing regarding Dar for owing assets beyond his known source of income. NAB has also seized Dar's assets and other properties on the accountability court's permission.
