Pakistan cricket captain, Sarfraz Ahmed has stated that the ongoing statements regarding the uncertainty over captaincy do affect the dressing room.

“Players who are not performing well do not get affected by such comments, however, the atmosphere becomes such that it automatically starts affecting the team,” said Sarfraz while talking to local media. “Such confusions do affect the captain and the players, as they are worried over the captaincy change,” he added.

On Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani said that the decision to keep Sarfraz as the captain of the team will be done after the recommendations of the cricket committee. However, Sarfraz maintained that it is PCBs prerogative to decide over who should captain the team or not in ODIs, while adding that he has been leading the side series by series.

Talking about the upcoming three match One Day Internationals (ODI) series against New Zealand, the skipper said that his team will seek to maintain the momentum and perform better. “We will now be playing a different format i.e. ODIs, where we need to improve as we would be playing a 50-over World Cup next year,” said Sarfraz, while talking to local media.

Earlier, Sarfraz maintained his lossless record in the shortest format of the game, as the Men in Green whitewashed New Zealand 3-0 in a T20 International series, marking their eleventh consecutive series win.
