By-polls in Karachi’s NA-247, PS-111 to be held tomorrow

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized all necessary arrangements to hold the by-elections tomorrow for National Assembly seat of NA-247 Karachi, Sindh Assembly seat PS-111 along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat PK-71.

The ECP has completed all arrangements to ensure that the by-polls are held in a peaceful manner on Sunday. Under the supervision of Pakistan Army personnel, polling material is also being transported to the polling stations, local media reported.

The seat from Karachi's NA-247 constituency was left vacant after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Arif Alvi was elected president. Similarly, the assembly seats of Sindh and KP were vacated by Imran Ismail and Shah Farman after they were elected as governors for their respective provinces.

Prominent candidates contesting for NA-247 include PTI’s Aftab Hussain Siddiqui, Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Sadiq Iftikhar, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Qaiser Khan Nizamani and Pak Sarzameen Party’s (PSP) Arshad Vohra.

For Sindh Assembly seats, the candidates contesting are, social activist Muhammad Jibran Nasir, PTI’s Shehzad Qureshi, Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's Mohammad Zahid Hussain, MQM-P's Jehanzeb Mughal, PPP’s Muhammad Fayyaz Pirzada and PSP’s Yasirddin.
