22 more dengue cases detected in Rawalpindi

The viral fever has spread with enormous speed and the precautionary measures adopted by the authorities are nowhere to be found in the city in this regard, private news channel reported.

Sources said that 22 dengue patients were brought to three hospitals including Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Hospital in the past 24 hospital.

Meanwhile, laboratory test of 18 patients at the Holy Family Hospital has confirmed as dengue positive. Sources said that the number of patients affected by the bite of Aedes mosquito has reached a figure of 200 during this year.

Dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes and is a global public health concern. There is no vaccine available in Pakistan for the virus, which kills an estimated 20,000 people each year and infects up to 100 million across the world, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
