Speaker summons NA session on October 17 to discuss Shehbaz’s arrest

A National Assembly session will be held on October 17 to discuss the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif.

NA Speaker Asad Qaiser has called a session at the Parliament on October 17, local media reported. Meanwhile, PML-N has announced to hold a session at the Parliament House gate on Thursday (tomorrow). Both the houses, NA and the Senate, has been asked to assemble to discuss Sharif's arrest.

A 10-day physical remand of Sharif was given by an accountability court to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on October 6, in the Rs14 billion Ashiana Housing case.

Following their party president's arrest, a delegation of PML-N and members of the opposition comprising PML-N chairman Raja Zafar ul Haq, former NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Rana Tanveer Hussain and JUI-F's Abdul Ghafoor Haideri called on the NA speaker and asked for a session to debate on the matter.
