Following the arrest of their party president Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) has demanded for a National Assembly session to debate on the matter.

A delegation of PML-N and members of the opposition met NA Speaker Asad Qaiser at his residence and asked for a session to be called as soon as possible over the arrest of Sharif. The delegation was led by former NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Raja Zafarul Haq and others, local media reported.

Speaking to the media, Sadiq expressed his hope that a session will soon be called in the next two days. He termed Sharif's arrest as political vengeance by the government. The PML-N president was summoned in Saaf Pani case but was arrested in Ashiana Housing case.

He said the arrest had been made to influence the upcoming by-polls. He said the government was using unnatural ways to win seats in the by-elections.

On Friday, the former Punjab chief minister was arrested by National Accountability Burea in the Rs14 billion Ashiana Housing case. Today, he was sent on a 10-day physical remand by an accountability court.
