NAB takes Shehbaz Sharif into custody

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif into custody in Lahore on Friday.

NAB detained the PML-N president after he appeared before the bureau in a case related to Saaf Pani Company. Shehbaz has been accused in the Rs14 billion Ashiana Housing case. NAB has reportedly contacted National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser for permission to arrest the opposition leader.

Following the arrest of Shehbaz ,a large contingent of Rangers were deployed outside the accountability bureau. The PML-N president will be presented before the accountability court on Saturday (tomorrow).

Lahore Development Authority former director general Ahad Cheema and former principal secretary to deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Fawad Hasan Fawad accused in the same case have already been remanded into NAB custody. Fawad had named Shehbaz in his statement before NAB and provided evidence against him.
