Joint Sitting: National Assembly Speaker refers bills to committee

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday referred two bills "The Criminal Law (Amendment) (Anti-Rape) Bill, 2016" and "The Anti-Honour Killings Laws (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill 2015" to Committee of the Joint Sitting on Bills for further discussion.
Opposition as well as treasury female members staged walkout from the joint sitting of the Parliament against the remarks of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) member Maulana Ameer Zaman. At this moment, all the male members of opposition parties also joined hands with the women and staged walkout from the parliament. Syed Naveed Qamar requested the Speaker to defer these two bills for Tuesday as there is need of consensus of the patties. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the bills should be deferred because Maulana Fazlur Rehman has told him to discuss them. Shabzada Tariqullah of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) said that his party wanted to refer them to Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) for discussion.
When Dr Shireen Mazari stood for taking floor of the House, a member from back bench raised voice and said that "Mr Speaker your should not give floor according to weight" Speaker replied, "I do not give floor according to weight" At this moment, Maulana Ameer Zaman of JUI-F stood and said that "Mr Speaker if you do not give floor according to weight then you should give floor according to height. On this remarks, all the women protested and staged walkout from the joint session of the parliament. Showing solidarity with the female members all the male opposition member also staged walkout.
