Four- to five-star hotel planned in Sialkot

Chairman Sialkot International Airport Malik Muhammad Ashraf has said that a comprehensive plan is being finalised for setting up a four to five star hotel and construction of a exhibition hall at airport. Talking to Business Recorder on Monday he said the basic concept of setting up a hotel was to provide modern accommodation to foreign visitors during their visit to Sialkot while the aim of establishment of exhibition hall was to hold international and domestic trade fairs and exhibition as well as for holding single country exhibition.
The proper functioning of hotel and exhibition hall he said Pakistan will not only earn handsome foreign exchange but both the projects will also generate wide opportunities employments for skilled and educated people. The Chairman revealed that that we are working on the establishment of separate international and national arrival and departure terminals to facilitate the passengers at airport adding that the step had been taken to facilitate the passengers while a separate counter will also be established for foreign nationals.
Tight security arrangements had been made while Police post had been established around the airport for security purposes while cameras had also been fixed at various points of airport he said. He said the airport management was also actively considering expanding cargo terminal keeping in view the considerable increase in cargo flights and volume of cargo adding that we are making hectic efforts for obtaining sufficient funds from Export Development Fund for proposed expansion of cargo terminal.
He said we are making strenuous efforts to provide maximum facilities to the passengers at airport. The Sialkot airport was not only playing an instrumental role in providing travelling facilities to the people of Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Daska, Narowal and many adjoining areas but also supportive in promotion of exports from Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Wazirabad (the golden triangle) he said.
