Landslides in Murree Minister sets up bodies to assess damages

Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar visited worst areas affected by landslides in Murree and constituted Committees headed by Assistant Commissioner Murree and Kotli Sattian to assess damages. The teams will be comprising officers of all departments concerned.
Chairman and Vice Chairman of Union Council concerned to carry out assessment of damages and furnish reports within a week.
AC Murree Tahir Farooq, President PML (N) Murree, Daftar Abbasi, Raja Ateeq Sarwar representatives of local bodies and officers of Highway department also accompanied the Provincial Minister.
The heavy landslides irrupted in result of torrential rains damaged infrastructure including houses, trees and link roads in most of Union Councils of Murree and Kotli Sattian Tehsils.
Talking to the affected people, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar assured that government had taken immediate steps to provide them shelter, food and other necessities and they would be properly compensated after the compiling the data and finalising assessment reports.
He said that partially and completely damaged houses would be given compensation and they would also be rehabilitated in their localities as soon as possible.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that it was a natural disaster and expressed sympathies with the persons who had lost their shelters and belongings due to occurrence of landslides.
He directed to the officers concerned to immediately make alternate arrangements for providing civic facilities in affected areas and restore link roads to facilitate the inhabitants.
He said infrastructure had been badly damaged in the areas and government would adopt appropriate measures to rehabilitate all basic facilities.
During the visit of the Minister, the affected persons apprised him about their difficulties and hardships.
