US Midwest corn bids mixed

Corn spot basis bids were steady to mixed around the US Midwest on Wednesday as futures hovered near three-week highs, enticing some farmers to sell small amounts of last year's harvest, grain merchants said. Basis bids gained by 3 cents per bushel at a corn wet mill in Decatur, Illinois, while bids eased by 2 cents at a closely tracked wet mill in Blair, Nebraska. The corn basis was weak along the Mississippi River and firm along the Illinois River.
Basis bids for soft red winter wheat fell by 10 cents per bushel at a flour mill in Chicago, following a recent rise in futures to a 1-1/2 month high that triggered some selling from farmers and commercial elevators.
