NAVTTC organises 'skill competition'

National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) on Wednesday held a 'provincial skill competition' at Karachi Expo Centre. The trainees of three Zones: Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad, participated in the trades like beautician, cooking, computerised accounting, fashion designing, dress-making, welding and general electrician and exhibited their live skills.
Cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 20,000 were distributed among 30 students who got first, second and third positions in all the trades respectively. Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema, Executive Director, NAVTTC, said that the aim of the competition was to interact and socialise the youth with each other and to explore and benefit from the level of skill competencies, marketable trades and employment opportunities.
He further said that technical and vocational training was the master key which would ultimately open the doors of career advancement for the youths.
Cheema said that the country's human capital, particularly the youth had great potential to overcome poverty by prioritising technical and vocational skills.
Dramatist Anwar Maqsood and columnist Zahida Hina distributed prizes among the winners and appreciated the successful trainees.
A large number of people including industrialists and general public participated in the competition. Job placement centres were also installed by different industries.
