National issues: Punjab governor for promoting reconciliation

Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana has said that all the provincial governments have the cooperation of the Federal Government, and the provinces should promote an environment of reconciliation on national issues for stability of federation.
Addressing the lawyers of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) and Karachi Bar Association (KBA) here on Monday, he said that situation in Karachi is improving because of effective strategy by the government and law enforcement agencies.
Rajwana said that difference of opinion is the democratic right of every party, adding that the present government welcomes concrete and practicable suggestions at every level to lead the country towards progress and prosperity.
He lauded the sacrifices of legal fraternity for rule of law and restoration of democracy in the country. On the occasion, he announced Rs 6 million, Rs 2 million and Rs 0.5 million for SHCBA, KBA and Malir Bar Association respectively.
Rajwana, lauding the rising ratio of female lawyers in the High Court Bar Association, said that the 33 percent job quota has been allocated for women in Punjab as well as a bill for protecting women rights has also been passed which will help reduce the incidents of injustice against women. It will also create awareness among women about their due rights, he added.
He stressed that there should be visible representation of women in the judiciary. Encouraging young lawyers' abilities and skills, he called for introducing refresher courses for lawyers. Senator Salim Zia, Arshad Khan Jadoon, Muhammad Aslam and a large number of lawyers were present.
