01 Mar, 2016

Attendance on Monday remained thin in government and private sector offices while Metro bus services was also suspended in twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, due to protests against the execution of Mumtaz Qadri. In this respect, all Public and private schools in Rawalpindi and some institutions in Islamabad were closed down at 11AM in fear of any violence and security problems.
A federal government's official said that the attendance in all secretariats remained very low because the people could not reach their offices due to suspension of metro bus service as protesters had blocked the metro route and shut the key terminal. He said that the suspension of metro bus service was not the only reason as the other routes were also blocked during office time. He said that many employees were on the way but they could not reach their offices and returned their homes.
An official of metro bus while talking to Business Recorder said that the service of metro bus was suspended at 9:00 am due to security reasons on account of protest against Qadri's hanging. He said that metro bus service would be resumed after the situation of twin cities normalised. Protestors recorded their protest against Qadri's execution, by partially or fully blocking the busy routes of the twin cities including the Islamabad Express Highway, Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) and GT Road.
