Religious parties protest against Qadri's execution

The religious parties held protest demonstration on Monday in different parts of the city against the execution of Mumtaz Qadri in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail in murder case of the then Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer. Angry demonstrators blocked the road at Numaish Chowrangi and burnt tyres.
Section 144 has been imposed in Karachi to foil rallies causing trouble in the city. Sunni Tehreek (ST), Ahle Sunnat (AS) and other parties also held protest demonstration in Hassan Square, Liaquatabad, Numaish Chowrangi, National Highway and others areas of the city against the execution. The protesters burnt tyres on the roads, causing hours long traffic jams in Sharifabad near Hassan Square and other localities of the metropolis.
Mumtaz Qadri, convicted for killing Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, was executed at around 4.30 am here on Monday at Adiala Jail. Jail authorities confirmed his execution.
