Security, execution of CPEC: forces ready to pay 'any' price: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday visited Headquarters of the newly-raised Special Security Division (SSD) for security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). According to a press release of ISPR, the COAS was given a detailed briefing on progress of raising the force and wide ranging security aspects of the CPEC.
General Raheel Sharif reiterated Pakistan Army's commitment to provide security to the CPEC and the workforce involved, terming the project a game-changer for Pakistan which has the potential to transform the lives of people of the country.
The COAS emphasized the need to ensure a peaceful environment for executing all the planned developmental projects.
The COAS said: "We are totally aware of all campaigns against the Corridor and vowed that the security forces are ready to pay any price to turn this long cherished dream into reality."
He instructed that all possible measures must be taken in coordination with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to make CPEC a success and beneficial for all and sundry. On arrival, the COAS was received by Lieutenant-General Malik Zafar Iqbal and Major-General Abid Rafique, Commander SSD.
