Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demands the government to announce the industrial and trade policy immediately. The delay is creating uncertainty and problems for the country's industry and the export sector, said former Vice President FPCCI and PTI Women Wing Balochistan President, Fehmida Jamali while talking to Media. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif promised to announce the Strategic trade Policy Framework (STPF) package a few months back but the government was unable to understand the urgency, she added.
Delays in taking decisions often cost the people and the economy heavily as industry is in real bad shape, particularly the export-oriented industry, which is struggling for survival. she told the world will not wait for Pakistan to announce its trade policy.
The exporters of textile, leather, horticulture and marble sectors of the country are working in a highly competitive international environment and our peers are occupying the available space in international trade each passing day, leaving little place for Pakistani companies, she added. But here we must give credit to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for announcing the industrial policy and giving an incentive on the part of provincial government.
Other provinces should also follow the footsteps of KP government and come out with a clear-cut industrial policy with extending the investors every possible incentive and assistance, she added. We must understand the current situation is extremely worrying the precious foreign-exchange earning industries and the increasing cost of utilities and inputs was causing closure of many value-added export oriented units across the country. The incentives to the exporters which has increased their export under generalised system of preferences plus facility by the European Union was facing hardship due to stuck up capital with the government to the tune of billions of rupees and rendered Pakistan unable to exploit this opportunity.
On the question of TDAP CEO Involvement in federation chambers, Jamali said CEO TDAP SM Muneer should stayaway to interfering in FPCCI affairs. Let the elected president may work independently. As FPCCI is an independent apex body of the country. She also said that across the world, Federation Chambers have played their independent roles and we didn't see any example that their respective government trade officials interfered in the chambers of commerce domain.-PR
