Unhygienic conditions: restaurants fined in Lahore

Provincial minister Bilal Yasin has spearheaded a string of raids by the Punjab Food Authority at the Shadman Market, targeting various food outlets. The outcome of one such a raid ended in sealing off the Big M Restaurant after being found guilty of poor cleanliness and keeping unstamped expiry-dated food. Food Minister Bilal Yasin speaking with journalists on Friday said his government would never compromise on quality and hygiene.
He and Food Safety Officer Samar Hayyat Gondal checked the Big M restaurant and fined it up to Rs 10,000. Two other restaurants, Baghdadi and Frieto, facing the same charges, too received fines of up to Rs 15,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively.
