Punjab increases tax recovery target to Rs 5 billion per month: minister

The Punjab government has increased recovery of tax collection from Rs 3.5 billion to Rs 5 billion per month this year which is a great success, Provincial Minister for Finance Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said, here on Wednesday. She hoped that due to round the clock efforts of Punjab Revenue Authority, the government will achieve its tax collection target at the end of the current financial year.
She was talking to media persons at a ceremony of giving interest-free loans to the poor people under Chief Minister's Self Employment Scheme. She said that people belonging to all walks of life should pay their taxes on time for stability of national economy and poverty alleviation. Replying to a question about the demands of cable operators, the minister said that talks can be held about the tax levied on the services of cable operators, however, cable operators being responsible citizens should also pay other taxes.
