We hold parliament in high esteem: MQM Senators

03 Nov, 2015

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senators on Monday withdrew their resignations and returned to the upper house of Parliament. Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani said that the MQM senators had withdrawn their resignations even before the process of their acceptance was completed, thus their resignations stood withdrawn. Additionally, he said, his October 5 ruling over the resignations of MQM Senators should be forwarded to President, Prime Minister, Minister for Law and Justice as well as Supreme Court and High Courts.
Raza Rabbani read out his earlier ruling which he issued on October 5 as soon as MQM Senator Tahir Mashhadi and Mian Attique entered the House and made a statement that their grievances were against the government and not parliament. They said that they hold the parliament in high esteem. According to them, their party was not against the Karachi operation by Rangers but they want transparency, fairness and observance of rule of law.
Senator Mashhadi said that as the government has provided people of Karachi a forum to take their complaints against alleged disappearance, they have decided to withdraw their resignations and return to the House, "which is very close to our hearts".
