Larkana district: polling held in atmosphere of peace

Polling for the first phase of the Local Bodies elections-2015 in Larkana district ended at 5:30 pm on Saturday. The registered male and female voters in Larkana district used their right of vote to elect the Chairmen/Vice Chairmen and other representatives for various seats of Municipal Corporation, Union Committees, District Councils, Union Councils, Municipal Committees, Wards and Town Committees.
The polling continued for nine hours fixed period in a peaceful atmosphere and no untoward incident was reported at any polling station in any part of the district. At some polling stations some voters, who reached within the specified time, were allowed to cast their votes, as per rules/laid down procedure.
Various teams of Journalists, who visited different polling stations found rush of voters at the polling stations, which were busy in exercising their right of franchise in favour of their favourite candidates. Counting of votes was started in the presence of the election agents of the candidates, soon after the closure/completion of polling at all the polling stations. Counting is continuing till filing of this report and results are expected sometime late in the night.
The Police and Rangers deployed at the polling stations, besides Police along with Rangers were also deployed at the sensitive polling stations of the Larkana district. The District Returning Officer (DRO) Noor Muhammad Mari, concerned Returning Officers (ROs), DIG Police, Wing Commander Shahbaz Rangers, Deputy Commissioner, SSP Larkana also visited various polling stations of the district and reviewed arrangements for first phase of the Local Bodies elections- 2015.
