Victims of the massive quake on Wednesday alleged the local administration of distributing the relief goods pouring from across the country including armed forces on political grounds. They also said that no government official has visited them to take notice of the matter.
Talking to a private TV channel, a local said that the residents, who have been living in the quake-hit valley for decades, are considering shifting to other places as they have to sleep under the open sky. The victims have no option but to sell their sources of livelihood including piece of land and cattle to buy tents and ration, he added. Another victimised person said that the political leaders, who get the responsibility of distribution, provide the material to party enthusiasts. At least, 60 tents were reserved for Darosh however, those were distributed on political basis, he added. On the other hand, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has claimed distribution of as many as 300 tents among the affectees.
On October 27, MPA Syed Sardar Hussain, who hails from Chitral, called for a special package for the displaced families. Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) member, while addressing a press conference said that thousands of people were affected by recent floods in Chitral and now destruction by earthquake has posed another challenge for the government.
