30kg of explosives recovered: five-member gang of banned outfit held

Police on Sunday arrested five terrorists associated with a banned organisation during a counter terrorism raid in Balakot, Sub-division of district Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and recovered 30kg explosive material from their possession.
"Certainly, the gang had a plan to hit the forthcoming Muharram processions and conduct other sabotage activities," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Headquarter, Hafiz-ur-Rehman told APP on phone. The arrested persons were also involved in other heinous crime and wanted to police in various criminal cases, he added.
Further interrogation was in progress and hopefully more revelation will come up soon, he disclosed. On the tips off the Mansehra Police had raided on many places to the arrest this gang, he added.
As directed by DPO Mansehra Najeeb-ur-Rehman, a counter terrorism raid was conducted in Balokot, Sub-Division of District Mansehra for the arrest of the gang of banned organisation. He said during the raid they have arrested five suspects and also recovered 30 kg of explosive material from their possession.
Militants were trying to hit Muharram rallies as several suicide jackets, security forces' uniform has also been recovered from the site, he concluded.
