LSE index up 65.54 points

Shares gained at the Lahore Stock Exchange amid an ascending transaction volume on Monday. The LSE-25 index gained 65.54 points to close at 5708.24 against 5642.70 of Friday while the transaction volume increased to 1.446 million shares compared with the previous volume of 527,500 shares. Brokers said on Monday market players opted for fresh buying in selective scripts leading to a spiralling market.
The Mari Petroleum Company Limited, Pakistan Oil Fields, Fauji Fertiliser Company, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, Askari Bank Limited, Dewan Farooq Motors Limited, SSGCL, Japan Power Generation and Pace Pakistan Limited registered gains while Tariq Glass Industries, Dewan Cement Limited, Fauji Cement Company Limited, Arif Habib Corporation, Pervez Ahmed Securities and Silkbank Limited suffered losses and closed in a minus column. Gainers were much ahead of losers since of 78 firms, 21 showed strength and closed in green zone, six lost and 51 others remained stagnant at their previous levels. Among the gainers, the Mari Petroleum Company Limited gained Rs 13.00, Pakistan Oil Fields improved by Rs 12.22, Fauji Fertiliser Company was appreciated by Rs 2.41, while Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, Askari Bank Limited, Dewan Farooq Motors Limited, SSGCL, Japan Power Generation and Pace Pakistan Limited were up by 65 paisas, 48, 45, 32, 21, 20 and 20, respectively.
The Tariq Glass Industries shed 71 paisas; the Dewan Cement Limited declined by 50 paisas, Fauji Cement Company Limited lost 45 while Arif Habib Corporation, Pervez Ahmed Securities and Silkbank Limited were declined by 20, 9 and 2-paisa, respectively. The volume leaders of the day were the K-Electric Limited with 912,500 shares, Pervez Ahmed Securities with 127,500 and Silkbank Limited with 101,000.
