Visitors throng Pakistan gems, mineral show

The Gems and Mineral Show organized under the auspices of Gemmological Association of Pakistan (GAP) is attracting a large number of visitors including foreign buyers. The show having more than 100 stalls of different precious and semi-precious stones was begun the other day and will continue till the evening of the Sunday (October 11, 2015).
The Gem's and Mineral Show was used to be annually organised in Peshawar under the auspices of All Pakistan Commercial Exports Association (APCEA). However, due to the peculiar law and order situation, it was not arranged for several years and for the last two years it organized in Islamabad. The Gemmological Association of Pakistan (GAP) is a new association and comprising of a team of high professional, sincere and devoted members irrespective of the gender discrimination. It has been established solely for development of the indigenous gems and mineral deposits of the country.
In the show different precious and semi-precious stones including ruby, tourmaline, sapphire, emerald, aquamarine, topaz, kunzanite and other have been put on display in the exhibition. On the second day of the show a large number of visitors including visitors from Thailand and Peoples' Republic of China and other countries visited the show and expressed deep interest in the gemstones put on display in the show.
Talking to this scribe, Shakeel Wahidullah, chairman of the association expressed satisfaction over the response of the people and public and private sectors representatives. The purpose of holding the show, he said is promotion of the soft image of the province and attracting of buyers to the province. He said that the province was deprived of such event in the name of security problem.
He said that a large number of the visitors could not visit the show as the Ministry of Interior has declined the issuance of the No-Objection Certificate (NoC) to them. He said that the show will not only help market the product of the province, rather will also help restore tourism in the province. He was thankful to different federal and provincial departments and officials for visiting the show and express solidarity with them. He said that a buying have also been carried in the show.
