Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood has ordered Secretary Health Punjab to initiate disciplinary action against EDO Health Bakkar for defiance of orders of Advisor Ombudsman Punjab District Bakkar for provision of record of irregularities in recruitments. He has also ordered to recruit a disable candidate against the post of Laboratory Assistant and submit compliance report to Ombudsman Office within a period of one month.
According to details, one Muhammad Amir, a resident of village Mullan Wali Tehsil & District Bakkar lodged a complaint with Ombudsman Punjab that he had applied for recruitment against the post of Laboratory Assistant and attached all necessary documents alongwith disability certificate being a special person. "My name was at the top of first merit list which was withdrawn due to reasons, best known to EDO Health, demoted on second position in the merit list displayed after one month and totally ignored in the final list of the recruited persons," alleged the applicant.
He disclosed that no pathologist was present during the process of interviews for the post of Laboratory Assistant and final selection was made on the basis of favouritism, flouting the merit policy of the government.
The Ombudsman has reminded in his order that all the provincial departments are bound to produce record as and when required by Ombudsman Office under Article 10(9) of Office of the Ombudsman Act 1997 and EDO Health Bakkar's action was defiance of the Ombudsman's orders. He ordered Secretary Health Punjab to initiate disciplinary proceedings against EDO Health Bakkar and issue recruitment orders in favour of the disabled candidate under intimation to Ombudsman Office within 30 days.
