President summons National Assembly session on August 13

Postponing his three-day visit to Britain, President Mamnoon Hussain has summoned the news session of National Assembly on August 13.

According to local media reports, the president approved the summary sent by caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, which recommended August 13 as the date to hold the first NA session after the general elections.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had requested the president to postpone his visit to Britain so that he could administer oath to the premier-in-waiting Imran Khan.

In the NA session, the newly elected members will take oath. The oath will be followed by the elections of the speaker, the deputy speaker and the leader of the House.

According to PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry, Khan will be taking oath between August 15 and 17. He also said that the PTI had won 180 seats in the National Assembly and can form its government at the Centre.

Meanwhile, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Zafar Iqbal Jhagra has also called the provincial assembly session on the same day.
