Defence Day Navy celebrates Golden Jubilee

Pakistan Navy is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Defence Day of Pakistan with due solemnity and reverence. For this purpose, a number of activities are being conducted to commemorate supreme sacrifices of our Armed Forces and national heroes who stood against the aggressor and thwarted designs of numerically superior enemy with unprecedented display of unity and resolve.
In this regard, an impressive ceremony was held today at Pakistan Navy War College Lahore for inauguration of Shuhada's Memorial in connection with celebration of Youm-e-Shuhada. Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Khan Hasham Bin Saddique graced the occasion as Chief Guest. While addressing the ceremony Vice Chief of the Naval Staff said "Martyrs are an inexhaustible fuel for a national spirit; an undying hope that keeps breathing new life after every tragedy that a free nation, like Pakistan, faces every now and then". He further eulogized the extraordinary sacrifices that valiant officers and sailors of Pakistan Navy have done in protecting national integrity and sovereignty. Later, Vice Admiral Hasham also laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and prayed for the martyrs.
Earlier, in his opening speech, the Commandant Pakistan Navy War College, Rear Admiral Abdul Aleem paid homage to all Shuhada of Pakistan, especially to those of Pakistan Navy. He highlighted the great sacrifices that officers and sailors of the Navy have offered for the defence, peace and security of the country.
During the ceremony, a series of recorded and live national songs were played by children of Bahria College, Lahore. Guard of Honour was presented to Shuhada and family members of Shuhada also laid flowers at the Yadgar. The ceremony was attended by a large number of civil and military dignitaries and families of Shuhada of Pakistan Navy, including Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim (Retd) who is a veteran of 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak Wars.-PR
