Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting to review the performance of different wings of the Ministry of Finance. The Finance Secretary briefed the minister about the major accomplishments of various wings, including External Finance Wing, Debt Management Office, Budget Wing, Corporate Finance Wing and Implementation and Economic Reforms Unit (ERU). The meeting was attended by senior officers of these wings.
The meeting reviewed the various initiatives announced in the federal budget 2015-16 and discussed measures to implement those initiatives. The meeting also reviewed the overall economic performance in the first two months of the fiscal year 2015-16.
Various reforms being undertaken, especially those in the energy sector were discussed which the minister said were "highly significant in terms of resolving the energy problems of the country". Finance Minister Dar gave directions for holding regular performance review meetings of all Divisions falling under the Ministry and emphasised close co-ordination between the various Divisions and Wings for better decision-making and implementation.
