ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Maritime, Hussain Abdullah Haroon on Wednesday said rich petroleum resources in Pakistan would help strengthening economy.

Talking to a private news channel, he said it was second big news for the people of Pakistan after experiencing five nuclear bomb explosion.

The foreign company had found the petroleum resources through machines in Sindh Coastal areas, he said.

The American company had paid OGDCL the required money for drilling, he added.

This was not an easy task to start 5000 meter deep drilling for exploration of petroleum products, Hussain Abdullah Haroon said. It was pre-mature to say about the ratio of those resources which were, he said, higher than the Kuwait petroleum resources.

It would have positive impact on lives of the people besides economy of the country, he added.

To a question, he said the foreign company had requested the government for applying the berth at Port Qasim to achieve the objectives.

The OGDCL would monitor the entire work of that company exploring petroleum products for the country, he said.
