Unhygienic, substandard items: PFA seals salt production factory, food outlets

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday sealed a salt production factory on the charges of adulteration, false labelling, non-maintenance of record of iodization of salt, absence of equipment to check the ratio of iodization in salt, wash room in stacking area, production and packing of salt without iodization.
The PFA raiding team under Director Operations Ayesha Mumtaz also sealed Ayesha Foods in Samanabad for no medical of workers in proofing section, dirty floor and walls, insects and absence of ceiling. Its bakery section was imposed fine, because of bad cleanliness situation, insects and use of rusty trays.
The PFA also sealed Ghausia Naan Shop and Hot Roast Restaurant in Gulshan-e-Ravi on the charges of no medical certificate of workers, bad cleanliness, presence of insects in freezer etc. Ravi Town team sealed Ijaz Salt Products for pasting false labelling, keeping salt and food items on floor and rusty salt grinding machine. It was also charged with worst cleanliness situation and carrying out business without food license and medical of the workers. An FIR was also got registered with Larri Addah police station and a person was arrested.
Similarly, Pak Kashmir Hotel in Qila Muhammadi was sealed for doing business without license, Fri Chiks on Queens's Road because of unhygienic conditions, blood in freezers and usage of uncertified meat. Salman Sweets and Bakers situated on Ferozepur Road also sealed for same reasons. Canteen of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was imposed heavy fines because of unhygienic conditions, substandard juices and bakery products without labelling. PFA teams also conducted raids in Gulberg Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Nishtar Town, Wagha Town and Shalimar Town and sealed and fined various food outlets on same reasons.
