River Indus in very high flood

A fresh arrival of 120,000 cusecs in the Chenab River downstream the Panjnad head-works on the border of Sindh province has again made the Indus River attain very high flood level at Guddu and Sukkur barrages. According to Flood Forecasting Division, 725,000 cusecs of water is flowing in the Indus River at Guddu Barrage and 675,000 cusecs at Sukkur Barrage.
River Indus at Kotri has also attained high flood level with the flow of 509,000 cusecs. The river is likely to be in high flood for at least 10 days.
Hydrological Situation:
River Indus at Guddu and Sukkur is in very high flood, River Indus at Kotri is in high flood. River Indus at Tarbela and River Kabul at Nowshera are in low flood. Nullahs of River Ravi (Deg, Bein & Bassantar) and Nullah of River Chenab (Aik) may attain medium to high flood level during next 48 hours.
Synoptic Situation:
Seasonal low lies over west Balochistan with its trough extending north-eastwards. Weak monsoon currents are penetrating into central and north-eastern parts of the country. A weak westerly wave is likely to approach upper parts of the country on Monday (night) and likely to persist there during next 24 to 36 hours.
Weather Forecast:
Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower is expected at isolated places in Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Islamabad, upper FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
