Peace, development in Malakand reviewed

A meeting held with General Officer Commanding (GoC) Army Division, Swat, Major General Nadir Khan in the chair at Khwazakhela, district Swat reviewed restoration of peace, construction programme and progress from acceleration of development pace and resolution of other problems. According to ISPR, all Brigade Commanders, DIG Azad Khan, Deputy Commissioners, Police, civil administration and concerned officials of non-governmental organisations attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed overall security situation in Malakand Division, while districts Bunner and Dir also came under same discussion. Different steps for administrative and security concerns regarding different festivals and fairs scheduled next months were presented to GoC.
The GoC took briefing regarding security of these festivals and fairs from the concerned authorities and issued directives for making foolproof security and administrative affairs of these festivals and fairs. The matter of the registration of non-customs paid (NCP) vehicles also came under discussion at the meeting. The GoC took detailed briefing regarding the matter and stressed need for completion of the matter as soon as possible.
The matter of encroachments on roads also reviewed and bringing improvement in the dilapidated conditions of roads also stressed. Beside, different proposals regarding the construction of new roads in Malam Jabba and Shangla and effective linking DIG Azad Khan gave briefing on steps for traffic planning, traffic control, launching of helpline and distribution informative pamphlets, which was appreciated by GoC as positive progress while shifts of police will be held on the occasions of festivals and fairs. The GoC expressed satisfaction over the measures. The meeting also discussed problems like establishment of steel bridges, construction of educational institutions and arrival of tourists. A large number of tourists used to come to Swat from across the country.
