Clarification

This is with reference to a news item 'Minister places moratorium on recruitment' carried by Business Recorder on July 01, 2015. The Ministry of Commerce clarifies that the process of selection of Permanent Representatives to WTO was undertaken transparently. Applications were invited through circulation of posts by Establishment Division and advertising the vacancies on the Ministry's website and the candidates were shortlisted after due diligence.
A high-powered committee headed by Minister for Commerce and comprising Secretary Commerce, Secretary Establishment and Secretary Foreign Affairs conducted rigorous interviews and proposed a panel of three officers to the Prime Minister.
