The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought report of investigation committee on shortage of petroleum products during this year. The court issued this order in response to a petition seeking action against responsible of creating petroleum crisis in the country. Appearing before the court, a Law Officer submitted that to investigate the matter, a high-level committee was formed which could not start proceedings due to budget preparations.
He prayed for more time to submit report in that regard and court granted him time and adjourned the proceedings for indefinite period. The petition was filed by Insaf Lawyers Forum. The petitioner submitted that the government officials engineered the petroleum crisis to create shortage of the petroleum products. He said in that way the petrol was sold at high rates and black marketers were given a chance to make money.
